Never Appear in Court

If I Have an Attorney Do I Have to Be at Court?

In general, an attorney can appear on your behalf if you are charged with a misdemeanor. This means you will not have to take time from work or school, find child care, if you have children, nor waste time driving to and waiting in court for your case to be called.

However, if your case involves domestic violence or is charged as a felony, then you will need to appear in court with your attorney.

It is important to discuss whether your appearance is necessary in court with your attorney.
